Portrait session

A short 2 hr portrait session, where we build a whole lot of chemistry prior to the wedding day. I learn what makes you tick, providing me with a solid foundation from which to begin planning your wedding portraits. In turn, you gain a sense of confidence prior to the wedding, along with some beautiful images of the two of you doing what you do best - simply being yourselves.

Couple eloping on a beach

Unrivalled in terms of sheer romance and intimacy, Elopements are always so exciting to shoot! More than that, it's an honour to be one of the few souls around to witness the moment that you commit yourselves to each other. Victoria, and Australia in general have so many incredible spots in which to exchange vows and make the day more than just memorable.

Yarra Valley Wedding

What more needs to be said? Weddings are why I do what I do. These days people are less about the traditions and formalities and more about simply declaring their love publicly before family and friends and then getting on with the party. I will capture your special day in ways you might never have thought possible, while ensuring I don't miss a second of the chaos and excitement.

Booking & Availability

I strictly limit myself to 40 weddings each season. I believe in a strong life/work balance and limiting my bookings allows me to maintain the same level of energy and commitment to each wedding I shoot. As I take bookings from 18 months out, I recommend getting in touch as soon as you've secured your venue so as not to miss out.

My approach is best described as relaxed, due largely to the preparation and organisation that I do prior to the day. My role is really that of an observer ; I seek out the transient moments that occur through the day, capturing them before they disappear into the ether.

Frequently Asked Questions

If we book with Anchor & Hope, are we guaranteed that you'll be photographing our day?

Yes, absolutely. I'm basically a one man show, so I'll be photographing and editing your wedding personally.

Do we get to meet with you prior to the wedding?

Definitely! Ideally I like to meet couples in person before they book - chemistry is a huge part of what I do, so I need to know that you feel comfortable with me as a person as well as a photographer. Normally we'd meet again 4 weeks prior to your wedding just to go over the details/timings etc.

We're not getting married in Melbourne - are you able to travel?

Of course! I'm on the road most weekends throughout Spring and Summer. Travel fees for the most common out of Melbourne locations are included in my Information Guide. Interstate bookings require return airfare and 2 nights accomodation.

How much time should we allow for portraits?

That really depends on the structure of your day. I'd say set aside 1 hr as a minimum and 2.5 hrs as a maximum. I'm a big advocate for keeping the focus on the fact that it's your wedding day. I don't want you to be away from your family and friends for any longer than is absolutely necessary. For portrait sessions more towards the 2.5hr duration, I like to incorporate a picnic or bar visit as our first location as it's an amazing way to get the entire bridal party in the right headspace ahead of our shoot.

What's golden hour and why do we need it?

Golden hour is that last hour of light before the sun sets on your wedding day. Its when the light is at it's softest and warmest and is absolutely the most flattering and moody light in which to shoot portraits. In the middle of summer, Golden Hour may begin as late as 8.15 ; in this case I'll most likely drag you from your own reception for 10 or 15 minutes just to make sure we make the most of the light.

Do you offer discounts during the year?

Unfortunately, no I don't. I'm right across the current prices that my fellow photographers choose, and given my level of experience and service, I believe my prices represent incredibly good value. I've made a conscious decision to keep my prices well below my competitors because it ensures I have enough enquiries coming in to be able to choose the bookings that particularly appeal to me without the fear of not having enough work later in the year.

Everything sounds great so far - what's our next step?

The next step is to hit my Contact Page. Give me the rundown on everything that you have planned and I'll send through my Information Package outlining my pricing and services in more detail. From there we can either schedule a face to face meeting, or if you're already sold, I can provide you with a quote for the day along with directions on how to pay the deposit to secure your booking.
